Present indefinite Passive voice

 Present indefinite   (Passive)



We use this tense in below statement.

News Reports, Instructions or Processes, Unknown or Unimportant Doer, General Statements:

When the action's performer is unknown or insignificant, or when the action or outcome itself is the main focus, the passive voice is often used.

1. In present indefinite (passive) we use is, am, and are as helping verbs.

                        Is                                         AM                                     ARE

 ( he, she, it singular noun)     ( I )       (we, you, they, plural noun)


2. We use 3rd form of verbs in all passives.

3, We us (by) before the object.

3. For English to English sentences we change the place of subject and object.

4. After the placing of the subject, subjects will be changed into 


  He...................him

  She..................her

  It.......................its

   I........................me

  We......................us

  They ................... them

   You....................you

Structure

Affirmative sentence

Object + is/are/am + 3rd of the verb + by + subject

       Active           He    write       a book.

      Passive            A book is written by him.

Negative sentences

  Object + is/are/am + not + 3rd of the verb + + by + subject

 Active  We do not make mistakes.

       Passive           Mistakes are not made by us.

Interrogative Sentence

Is/are/am Object + 3rd of the verb + by + subject?

 Active     Do they speak English?

        Passive   Is English spoken by them?

Examples  of change in the voice 

  1. Active: He writes a letter. Passive: A letter is written by him.

  2. Active: We make a delicious cake. Passive: A delicious cake is made by us.

  3. Active: She teaches English. Passive: English is taught by her.

  4. Active: The factory produces high-quality products. Passive: High-quality products are produced by the factory.

  5. Active: The cook cooks a tasty meal. Passive: A tasty meal is cooked by the cook.

  6. Active: They speak Spanish in this region. Passive: Spanish is spoken in this region by them.

  7. Active: The gardeners water the plants every morning. Passive: The plants are watered every morning by the gardeners.

  8. Active: We celebrate birthdays with enthusiasm. Passive: Birthdays are celebrated with enthusiasm by us.

  9. Active: The sweeper cleans the classrooms. Passive: The classrooms are cleaned by the sweeper.
