What are Pronouns?

Imagine if we need to say our names each time we want to communicate about ourselves or our friends. I think that might be a little difficult. The power of pronouns can save the day! Words known as pronouns replace nouns, which are names of persons, places, or objects. They provide flow and pleasure to our phrases.

Types of Pronouns:

Let's now get to know the various pronoun teams and discover how they may support us on our word journeys!

Personal Pronouns :


      These are the words that talk about us, our friends, and others. They have three teams . The "Me and My Friends Team," the "You Team," and the "He, She, It, and They Team. 


· Me and My Friends Team:

Example: I love ice cream. We play together every day.

You Team:

Example: Do you like to play outside?

 

· He, She, It, and They Team:


·     he, she, it, they


Example: He has a big smile. They are playing in the park.

Demonstrative Pronouns:


      These pronouns help us point to things. Imagine having magical fingers that can point to stuff without touching them! 


· This (points to something close)


· That (points to something a bit far)


· These (points to more than one close thing)


· Those (points to more than one far thing)

Interrogative Pronouns: 

        

      When we have questions and want to find out more about something, These words help us

· Who (asks about people)


· Whom (asks about people too, but a bit fancier)


· Whose (asks about who owns something)


· Which (asks about things)


· What (asks about anything)

Relative Pronouns :


          These pronouns help connect sentences and ideas. They are like bridges between words!


· Who, whom (talk about people)


· Whose (talk about who owns something)


· Which (talk about things)


· That (talk about both people and things)


        Example: The cat that is black is my friend. The boy who has a red hat is my neighbor.

Indefinite Pronouns:  


       These pronouns are a bit mysterious because they don't talk about a specific person or thing. They are like secret agents!

· Nothing, all, any, none

      These pronouns talk about when we do something to ourselves. It's like looking in a mirror and saying, "I did it myself!"
